Flee Instead of Flock: Escaping Pope Madness

If you live in Northern Delaware, or anywhere remotely close to Philadelphia, you probably don't want to be around this weekend.  The Pope is coming to Philly and traffic is sure to be a nightmare everywhere.

Everyone should head to the DE/MD beaches, where the weather is great and there is plenty of parking.  It may not be a religious experience, but I like to think of the beach as a little slice of heaven, so you'll be somewhat closer to God.

Besides - nothing says Fall like an event called SUNFEST.

This weekend (September 24-27, 2015), Ocean City is hosting a huge festival filled with arts, crafts, food, music and other entertainment, hayrides, and kids activities.  Big names in the big tent this year will be Tony Orlando, Wynonna Judd, and 90s rockers, The Spin Doctors & Gin Blossoms.  All events are held at the south end of the boardwalk/inlet parking lot and, except for the musical performances, admission is free.

On Friday, September 25, Rehoboth Beach is hosting their annual Senior Beach Day.  This age 60+ event is held at the bandstand and at the convention center.  Seniors can get various health screenings and take advantage of free giveaways.

In a world where everything is being made to taste like Pumpkin Spice right now, it's good to know that we still have a place to go where they are hanging on to every last bit of summer.  Pretty soon, the crowds will be gone and all of the warm weather hot spots will be shuttered until Spring.  Pumpkin Crushes, anyone??
